蕭金益指出，這股熱潮也讓許多單位都有討論是否要禁止在公家場所玩這款遊戲。目前台電持的是開放態度，只要在安全的前提下，不會禁止玩家親近變電箱。他說：『(原音)那我們是不是更開放、更活潑的讓這些寶可夢迷能夠接近我們的設施，事實上我們的設施也是安全的。只要你不要去把它真的把它打開我們的變電箱，也是一個好的議題。所以我們這部分傾向比較開放態度讓寶可夢迷，把它變成是一個補給站，所以我覺得這個是好的議題。』

擴增實境手遊「精靈寶可夢」(Pokémon GO)6日登台刮起一股抓寶旋風，許多寶迷群聚在台電各個變電箱，藉此獲得遊戲補給，但接近變電箱衍生的安全問題也引起討論。對此，台電今天(8日)表示，只要不打開、不破壞變電箱，就不會下禁令。至於玩家是否可以進到核電廠抓怪？台電持開放態度，但此事仍需進一步討論。
